What are the symptoms of an EGR fault?
The most common signs are: an EGR-related warning light (often a glow-plug / emissions light), rough idle, hesitation on light throttle, reduced power, increased fuel use, and a DPF that fills up much faster than it should. None of these are unique to EGR, which is exactly why a proper diagnostic is the first step.
Can a faulty EGR cause a DPF to block?
Yes — exhaust gas that should be clean is contaminated with soot, the DPF fills faster than it can regenerate, and you end up with limp mode and a DPF warning light. Fix the EGR, and the DPF behaviour often returns to normal.
Do you delete EGR?
Off-road and motorsport EGR deletes are available. For road vehicles, we strongly advise against it — it will fail the MOT emissions check, and it’s illegal to use a deleted vehicle on the public road. We will always be honest about this.
