Will a remap void my VW warranty?

A: UK consumer law means a manufacturer can't void your entire warranty because of a remap — they have to prove the remap caused a specific failure. We save your original ECU file, and if you ever need a return-to-stock for a warranty claim, the file is restored in about 20 minutes. Many owners choose to return to stock for major dealer visits.

Does the DSG need a separate tune?

A: Yes — for a Stage 1 engine remap, the DSG's torque limiters hold the engine back. We include a TCU (transmission control unit) re-cal as part of every DSG GTI Stage 1 job. Without it, you'll see the engine power on a dyno but won't feel the full benefit through the gearbox. The TCU tune is part of the standard price.

How long does the remap take?

A: Around 60 minutes from start to finish, including pre-job diagnostic, ECU read/write, DSG TCU re-cal (if applicable), post-job check and a short road test. The car is off the road for about an hour.

Will a Stage 1 GTI fail the MOT?

A: No. Stage 1 keeps the catalytic converter, GPF/OPF, lambda sensors and emissions equipment in place. The car is otherwise completely standard visually. The MOT emissions test passes in exactly the same way as before the remap.

Is Stage 1 bad for the engine?

A: No — the EA888 Gen 3 is built with substantial headroom and a well-developed Stage 1 file sits well within the engine's mechanical limits. The file is calibrated to keep exhaust gas temperatures, knock margins and cylinder pressures within safe operating ranges. We don't write aggressive files that stress the engine — we write files that work day-in, day-out.
